Gun Shy Assassin Presents Adler Chatter With Chris Adler

For more than a year now, Gun Shy Assassin has brought you a series of intimate interviews with Chris Adler, the punishing drummer for Lamb of God. Today, we learned the band’s new album opened at #3 on the Top 200 albums sales chart, with 52,000 copies sold. Now, here is our next installment — an exclusive you will only find at Gun Shy.A few weeks back, I spoke one last time with Chris Adler, drummer for Lamb of God. I say one last time because it was the last time before Chris would be heading on tour for the next two years. Meaning, Adler Chatters will be harder to come by going forward. But don’t fret!
“Let’s not call this the end of our journey quite yet,” Adler said, as he was packing his bags for the trek. “I think we’ve got plenty more rapping to do.”
We happen to know that the dude packed a Gun Shy Assassin tee for the tour, so if anyone sees Chris on stage sporting the shirt during a show, take a picture and send it to us, por favor.
Anyways, so, during that conversation, I happened to ask Chris about Randy Blythe and his run for president. I told him I was impressed by Randy’s grinding abilities in his campaign clip.
“It’s not actually in slow motion — that’s how fast he was actually doing it,” Adler jokes. “It’s a lot easier than you think. I sat there and watched the video with him and the only thing out of my mouth was — as I watched all the different scenes — was ‘I hope he falls, I hope he falls, I hope he falls.’”
No — Adler has not been asked to be Blythe’s running mate yet, and it’s not something he’s looking to do. “I would make a really good vice president. I have good ideas, but…I would go around and say the wrong things once in a while,” Adler says. So I’d probably be perfect. But at this juncture, I am not particularly interested in that position.”
For the record — Mark Hunter has informed us he’d like the position of Drug Czar, should Randy make it to the White House.
Adler, of course, has been doing a number interviews for Resolution, which I bought last Thursday; you should have bought it last week, too. Anyways, most of Adler’s interviews involve Randy.
“Most of my conversations during the day have to do with Randy and his Tweeting which…it just never gets old for me,” Adler deadpans. “It’s a lot of fun to talk about. Twitter and Randy and…all things Randy…it’s great. Occasionally, I will get some water, but other than that…just Randy.”
One aspect of the tour kickoff and the album promo Adler never anticipated was how it would impact his ability to watch football. So far, he’s only been able to watch playoff games he’s taped on DVR.
“I haven’t seen a fucking minute of live football and its really bugging me,” Adler bemoans. “It was my nephew’s birthday [during a recent Saturday playoff game] and on Sunday [during another], I filmed all day for this documentary we’re doing. So I missed all kinds of football and I’m really have some testosterone issues about it; I need to figure that it.”
Oh, and like us on Facebook, sucka.
