Martyrd

The year is 2012. We’re just five days in, and already, I’m introducing you to some new shit you’re going to fucking dig like Danzig.

The band’s called Martyrd. That’s no typo — it’s Martyrd. Not Martyred or Maryturd but Martyrd, and they’re a kick-ass New York-based metal troupe that play fast, play precise, and play sexy. Hear an exclusive song from the band’s new album — The Mortal Coil — at the end of this post. It’s called “Avarice,” and its just a little taste of what the album has to offer.

It’s actually quite good.

It’s also our first time using the new audio player here at Gun Shy Assassin — one of the many changes we’ve implemented for 2012, fucknut. Let us know if you have any issues. You shouldn’t but just in case, let us know. Because hey, you never fucking know.

The band boasts guitarists Michael Andreas and Dan Agapitos, along with singer Aaron Pollard, bassist Brian Nichols, and drummer Adam Birula. Martryd has shared the stage with the likes of Testament, Children of Bodom, God Forbid, Overkill, Deicide, Death Angel, Twisted Sister, and The Misfits.

The Mortal Coil is the band’s second album, following 2009′s Maniac.

The band spent 2011 writing and recording at Killingsworth Studios with master producers Anthony Lopardo and Raymond Marte, and are making preparations to unleash The Mortal Coil in early 2012.

Check out this track. Again, it’s called “Avarice” and, in a way, reminds me of Metallica if they were actually System of a Down. You’ll hear what I mean.

Once again, this is “Avarice.” Let us know what you think on Facebook or in the comments section below.
