Prong

Alas, bassist Tony Campos has not been playing with the band.

Instead, bassists Matt Brunson of Crowbar and former Cradle of Filth bassist Dave Pybus have been filling in.

“Since Tony Campos (who has been touring with the band and played on Carved Into Stone) is touring with Soulfly, we’ve had to tour with other bass players,” Tommy Victor says.

“Everyone who has toured with us so far has been fantastic and brought their own personal style to Prong. Phil Zeller from Toxic Holocaust did the Crowbar tour. Jason Rapesi, who has played with Stone Sour, did a few shows with us before that. We were heading to Europe and the guy we had couldn’t do it in the eleventh hour. Rather than cancel, our friend Matt Brunson from Crowbar stepped in and learned the entire Beg To Differ album in a day and a half!

“Then we found out that Dave Pybus, who has played with Cradle of Filth, was going to be the tech on the tour. As it turned out, Dave is a massive Prong fan! He learned some of the other songs and has been joining Alexei and I onstage every night. Now we have two great bass players each night! This tour has been a blast!”

Prong is set to tour this July with Clutch.

Within The Ruins

This year’s Summer Slaughter tour, with Cannibal Corpse, Between The Buried and Me, Periphery, The Faceless, Goatwhore, Cerebral Bore, Job For A Cowboy, and Exhumed.

It’s gonna be a fucking party, for sure. I’ll be there, and hope you get to go, too. If you’re on parole and can’t go for some reason…well, that blows.

The organizers teased a forthcoming official announcement on what bands would be attending what dates.

Instead, they released the names of the bands who will be playing on select dates.

They include Rings of Saturn, Within The Ruins, Fallujah, The Contortionist, Conducting From The Grave, Enfold Darkness, Abiotic, KALAKAI and Reflections.

Aeternus

Norwegian dark metal band Aeternus will enter Bergen’s Conclave And Earshot Studios in June with producer Bjornar E. Nilsen to begin tracking their seventh full-length album.

The band have called it And The Seventh His Soul Detesteth, and are looking to release it later this year through Dark Essence Records.

According to a press release, Aeternus is one of the pioneers of what the band calls “dark metal,’ meshing the sounds of black metal and death metal with superlative guitar playing and occasional haunting, melodic interludes.

If that sounds up your alley, then you’re good people.

The only way that could get any better sounding is if it involved free money. Or boobies.

Founder and frontman Ares says he has been “writing and working on new material, and we have chosen ten tracks for the new album which we have been rehearsing ready for when we enter the studio. I’m not going to say much about them except that Phobos and Specter have brought their own approach to things without losing any of the heaviness, power and intensity that people have come to expect from Aeternus. It’s a whole new era for the band, and we can’t wait to get going.”

We’ll be looking forward to that one, Greg.

What the fuck?

The Guns N’ Roses frontman posted a pic on Twitter of his leg, along with some side ass. Or bottom ass. Whatever you call it, it’s ass.

Rose was trying to show folks his recent injury.

Axl reportedly slipped and pulled a hamstring during a “wild weekend” in Moscow, Russia.

I wonder if Lana Del Ray was there. And if she sucks good dick. I bet you she lets you put your foot on her face when you’re fucking her doggy style.

Along with the picture, Axl posted this message: “Can U say HemaToma?!”

Vision of Disorder

I have wanted a new album from Vision of Disorder for so long, I almost can’t believe that shit is happening, but it is indeed.

Tim Williams, the band’s frontman, says the new Vision of Disorder album will be called The Cursed Remain Cursed.

“This record is vintage VOD,” he tells Terrorizer, “but we’ve all grown as musicians and individuals since the last stuff we released. It’s pretty diverse. You’ve got songs like ‘Blood Red Sun’ that are among the most forward-thinking, progressive things we’ve ever done, while still being real vicious—but there are some straight up numbers too, like ‘Hard Times’ and ‘Loveless.’”

Williams tells Terrorizer that “lyrically it’s coming from a pretty dark place, falling into the pits of one’s own personal hell, and having to crawl out or die down there, plus there’s some more political stuff too. This has been a long time in the making and we just went with what felt right.”

The Cursed Remain Cursed will be released later this year through Candlelight Records.

I wonder if the V.O.D. dudes are pronouncing it straight “cursed” or if they say it like I do: “curse-ed.” Maybe it’s The Curse-ed Remain Cursed. Or vice versa. Either way, I’m more excited for this album than I am for the new Pig Destroyer.

Actually, my anticipation for both releases is pretty fucking high.

WALK!

The band’s “Walk” single is now being hocked as the Walk EP.

It is available now for the first time in the U.S. at all digital retail outlets for a suggested list price of $3.99.

The single was previously released in Japan in 1993.

The EP boasts six songs, including two “Cervical” remixes of “Walk” by J.G. Thirlwell and “Biomechanical” remixes of both “Fucking Hostile” and “By Demons Be Driven” by Godflesh’s Justin K. Broadrick.

The EP also includes two live tracks — “Cowboys From Hell” and “Heresy” — that were recorded live in Moscow at the Monsters Of Rock in 1991.

This is something I don’t see every Pantera fan needing, necessarily. Only diehards will end up getting this.

It’s possible there’s a reason why this was only release in Japan.

Ronnie James Dio

Head to the end of this post.

There, you will find said video, which was released today.

It’s for the band’s song “Look Out” and pays homage to the man we knew as Dio.

“It was hard to find the right words for a song honoring Ronnie James Dio, but I hope it is regarded as a fitting tribute to a legendary figure,” says the band.

“His impact on the metal community will last forever, and though he may have been small in stature, his contribution to the music scene is larger than most will ever achieve.”

Dark Funeral

Swedish black metal legends Dark Funeral have aligned themselves with Century Media Records. The label will release the band’s next three LPs.

“Our bad luck with labels in the past has for sure been very frustrating,” says guitarist and founding member Lord Ahriman.

“So it is with great pleasure to finally be able to turn the page, move on and start a new dark chapter in the Dark Funeral saga, as we join the great Century Media family,” he says.

“Century Media has more than enough proven to be a stable and highly professional label. And we are totally looking forward to this new cooperation, which I’m sure will prove to be very satisfying and successful for both parts. Hail the goat!”

I have always fucking loved Dark Funeral, and will always be down with these dudes.

Their output is sinister and as black and as filthy as I want it. And I want it, baby — I fucking want it.

Still, something about the day seemed right. It was beautiful out, but somehow, things in the world just felt…good.

The photo in this post may explain why. It shows drummer Blake Richardson and producer Jamie King tuning drums in the studio.

That can only mean the sessions for Between The Buried and Me’s forthcoming album have begun.

The album follows the band’s EP, The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues.

They’ve been saying the album will be Parallax 2, but I’m hoping they change their minds about that.

Recording should take little more than a month, which leads the guys right into their duties as the co-headliners of this year’s Summer Slaughter tour.
