Aleister Wild Guitarist Terry Span Dies

RIP Terry Span

While we have been unable to find any reports that verify this information, Gun Shy Assassin is sad to be the first ones to report that Terry Span, the guitarist for Aleister Wild, has passed away.

An email from Ray Span, Terry’s brother, claims Span has passed away. The statement said that his “brother will be missed” and Ray thanked everyone “that has prayed for my brother. I love you Terry. I know that you are already jamming with Randy [Rhodes] — your lifelong dream. My brother will live on in all of us.”

Span had been in a coma ever since getting knocked unconscious by the band’s bassist, Michael Sorden.

The incident which led to the coma happened early Saturday outside Union Station, a Colorado Springs tavern where the band had just finished performing. Sorden got angry at lead singer Ernest Munoz for refusing to help him load equipment and punched the dude in the face.

Span intervened, and was reportedly punched by Sorden.

It is not clear whether Span died from his injuries, or whether more criminal charges would be filed again Sorden, who was facing a possible charge of second degree assault and being held without bond at the El Paso County Jail.

This is fucking tragic. Our thoughts are with the Span family. We can’t imagine the pain you must be dealing with.

We will let Ray takes us out: “FUCK YOU MIKE — ROT IN HELL YOU LITTLE BITCH. I would love to be there when the judge tells you that you are gone for life,” his statement ends.

Again, we can not validate this with other media reports, and we have every reason to believe Ray Span is the brother of Terry Span.

chris please fix the first sentence of this my brother is the guitarist not the bassist. thank you! all though you may say a man cliaming to be his brother i am his brother. and today has been a very tragic day for all of us.he was and is a wonderful person and always will be! Again anyone who was jammed with Terry knows that he was dedicated to his music and always will be.He could play that thing from sun up to sun down and not think twice about playing anything you asked him to. my favorite thing that he did for me as a kid was play Crazy Train but the great Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhodes. he loved Randy and would have done anything to jam with him…….R.I.P big brother see you again…….

i am at a loss …i was engaged to terry fron 1999-2001 we broke up a few times and got back together and finally ended in 2003.i loved him deeply he was one awesome guitarist.he spent many a nites up all nite planning tours making endless calls for gigs call military mena nd women to see how they were from when he met them on tours.he was truly dedicated to his music.he loved touring for the military(uso) i did one tour in 2000 with the band aleister wild..thru his eyes music and playing guitar for others was pure happiness to him.i was happy to see his career take off over the years.it was his life long dream..it saddens me deeply (many tears i have shed today) that this guy took a swing at him and took his life .TERRY i am so  so sorry you are truly missed.I hope the man who hit you is punished

  • Kyle

Im deeply sorry for your loss, terry was a good guy teaching me guitar while jamming with my dad, i only knew terry since january and he inspired me to learn. The only “true rocker” act left that i knew of that dedicated everything to his lifestyle of learning and teaching everyday, but before any judging starts against my dad i wouldnt believe everything ernie says wait until the Actual judge ruling takes effect instead of everyone talking shit, i will deeply miss terry however by 1 life gone why ruin two lives in the process? To me that just doesnt make the slightest bit of sense

  • Judithldennis

This is the most tragic incident I have ever heard to argue over who will carry out equipment.  A band is a unit and family and help each other regardless.  Terry never deserved to die in this manner.  He will always be in our mind and hearts he is a part of our music soul.

I am Micheal’s brother and I think it is time I say something.  First and foremost, I am truly sorry for the loss of Terry.  I knew Terry through my brother and although I didn’t know Terry very well, he seemed like a good guy.

My brother and him had a great friendship.  My brother took Terry into his own home and gave him a place to live, something a true friend does.  Michael enjoyed having Terry around.  He never told Terry he had to pay for anything, he enjoyed the friendship and especially playing music with Terry.  They were like long-lost brothers.  They both loved rock and roll music and loved jamming together.  My brother would do anything for Terry.

This incident is a mistake gone horribly wrong.  I know my brother had zero intentions of hurting Terry or Ernie during this ‘heat of passion’ brawl.  Adrenaline and emotions were running sky high during the commotion that night and unfortunately someone lost their life.  Even Ernie said that as soon as Terry fell to the ground, Michael realized something terrible has happened and fell to his knees crying for Terry.  That tells me that my brother did not mean to hurt Terry and the ‘heat of passion’ got the best of my brother.

I can understand the hatred and anger that Terry’s friends and family feel toward my brother and I am sure if the roles were reversed I would feel the same hatred and anger.  But please understand this was an unintentional tragedy.

I can’t tell you how much it hurts me to know that something so ridiculous (as a bar fight) can result into someone dying.  My thoughts are with Terry’s friends and family.

I will close with, please understand that my brother had no intentions of hurting anyone that night and this was a bar fight gone horribly wrong.

    RIP Terry

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME YOUR BROTHER DID SOMETHING LIKE THIS.  THAT’S WHY HE SPENT MANY YEARS IN PRISON FOR SHOOTING 4 ROUNDS AT A TRUCK DRIVER WHILE DRIVING.  WHAT;S THAT CALLED ATTEMPTED MURDER.  ALSO HIS NAME ON THE COLORADO BUREAU SEX OFFENDER SITE OF COLORADO BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION. SEX OFFENDER.  TERRY DIDN’T CARE TO MUCH FOR YOUR BROTHER AND THEY WAS NOT BEST FRIEND.  HE WANTED TO MOVE ASAP..  WONDER WHY…

    • IRISHFIGHTER77

TERRY HAD A PLACE TO LIVE IN COLORADO SPRINGS.  THE ONLY REASON HE MOVED IN WITH YOUR BROTHER WAS TO PRACTICE EVERYDAY GETTING READY TO PLAY AT CRIPPLE CREEK.  HE WAS GETTING READY TO MOVE BACK TO HIS PLACE BECAUSE OF YOUR BROTHER ANGER PROBLEMS AND DRINKING.  TERRY HAD TO WALK ON EGG SHELLS AT YOU BROTHER HOUSE.  IF YOU GOT SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT YOUR BROTHER.  TELL EVERYONE ABOUT YOUR BROTHER CRIMINAL RECORD.  ALL YOU GOT TO DO IS LOOK IT UP ONLINE.  EVERYTHING I SAID ABOUT YOUR BROTHER IS ON PAPER.  YOU KNOW IT.  I’M SPEAKING FOR TERRY SPAN BECAUSE HE CAN’T.

    • IRISHFIGHTER77

YES HE HAD TO PAY FOR STAYING WITH YOUR BROTHER

Ray, I’m sorry to hear about TJ. I’ve known TJ since I was a little kid. I remember when he lived in Navarre & he would have jam sessions at his place with TJ the drummer (who passed away from a motorcycle accident in the 90′s) playing Crazy Train & the likes. I remember going to the rootbeer stand in Massillon with him & the middle finger stick shift thing he had. The Wolverine tattoo he had as well. I was just a little kid & I haven’t seen or talked to him in about 15 yrs or so, but I’ve checked up on how he was doing these past 15 yrs through the internet. I was shocked & saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to you & your family.

To Ray and all of Terry’s  family,

    I am Mike’s Aunt,

At this time, you probably don’t want anything to do with any of Mike’s family., or to hear from any of us.
I have looked all over the internet to learn about your beloved brother & I have seen the good Terry has done in his life unselfishly for others. I applaud him for his USO tours. How wonderful for Terry and for our Military. I saw the recognition he has received from dignitaries as well,  for his good works & accomplishments.  Thank you Terry Span.  I have prayed for you and for your family and your friends, and their pain , & I will continue to do so. So many people do not take the time to do good in their lives, as you have done.

My heart is broken for your families loss, & I am so very very sorry.  He looks like the kind of person I would have liked to have known.  Please accept my deepest sympathy. There must be a very special place in Heaven where he was needed.  From the bottom of my heart I pray that your pain will be lessened in time.

  • Terry Spans Father

BJ, I am Terrys father. I think its time to respond to your comments> First You say your brother and  Terry were best buds— I say bullshit!!!!! And you also said this was a terrible accident gone wrong. Did you forget that Mike was convicted of firing several shots at a vehicle simply because they cut him off???? LOgic tells me your brother was intending to hit someone. A single shot fired in the air could mean something different possibly but not multiple shots!!! Terry also slept on the floor in the BASEMENT and was not invited to part take of any food!!!! So your story is very far fetched!!! Mike, your brother  sucker punched Terry!!! Also your brother is less than scum!!! Now do you get it??!!!

  • Terry Spans Father

    I

am terrys father! You are Mikes brother, so you say. Youll never convince me that Terry and MIke
were best buds!!! Mike in my guess fed Terry a line of bullshit just like he fed his parole board, lest you forgot he was convicted of shooing multiple shots at a vehicle for cutting him off in traffic. Logic tells me he intended to harm the driver which spells use of deadly force. Explain that.. If you can. By the way the incident that youre talking about translates to the death of my son. Wheres the sorrow now???????????????????? Youre just another idiot in his family!!!!!
