Anvil Bassist Quits

Anvil

I have long held that Anvil’s that band no one really, truly likes or gives a fuck about, but people feel like they can’t rag on them because that movie came out and the mass ball licking led everyone to think they were actually good. No one gets it, but they pretend they do. Anvil are the New Yorker cartoon of metal.

Maybe I’m wrong. Regardless, bassist Glenn Gyorffy (a.k.a. Glenn Five or G5) has left Anvil, citing the ever-popular creative differences.

Glenn Five joined Anvil in 1996 and has appeared on seven of the band’s albums, including This Is Thirteen and the group’s latest release, Juggernaut Of Justice.

“Playing in Anvil has given me some of the best years of my life,” says Glenn. But…?

“After nearly 16 years with the band, the time has come to move on and try new musical endeavors,” his statement says. “Although Anvil has been a great band to play in, I have been limited creatively. I have a wide taste in music and I feel that it’s time to broaden my horizons.”

Glad that there’s someone too, that doesn’t think Anvil is thaaat good. But to depreciate them like that is just ignorant .. have you ever seen them live ? Because live ist what is the power of Anvil, they’re entertaining as hell, one of the best live bands in my opinion. Also I’m quite sad, that Glenn leaves, he always seemed to be a nice guy …
