Anvil Tap Iron Maiden Tribute Band Guy For New Bassist

Sal Italiano

This week, Anvil lost longtime bassist Glenn Gyorffy (known to fans as Glenn Five or G5). They have since moved on, making quick work of finding his replacement.

Anvil have recruited Sal Italiano — bassist for a Long Island, New York-based Iron Maiden tribute band called Live After Death, and an original member of prog metal act The Nightmare Stage — as their new touring bassist.

What? Dude’s not good enough to be in the band? He’s good enough to tour with, but not good enough to make a greater commitment to?

I guess they’re giving him a test run.

I bet Sal knows how to make a mean pizza. Or can “arrange” an accident for you, if you know what I mean. What a name? That’s like being named Shamus Irishguy.

Gyorffy bailed on Anvil two days ago, citing creative differences. He had been in the band since 1996.
