Ape Machine Exclusive Song Stream: “Hold Your Tongue”

Ape Machine

Holy fuck! If you people like big, juicy, stoner rock riffage, you need to head to the end of this post right quick and play “Hold Your Tongue” from Portland, Oregon’s Ape Machine — a track you’ll only be able to stream here, at Gun Shy Assassin.

You could also listen to it over and over again if you’d like by purchasing a copy of Ape Machine’s new record, War to Head, which hits stores today. If you like The Sword and Blue Cheer, you need to check this track out.

War to Head is Ape Machine’s second full-length. It was recorded at The Magic Closet Studios with Isaiah “Ikey” Owens (Mastodon, The Mars Volta, TV on the Radio) and mixed at Supernatural Sound (The Thermals, Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse).

According to a press release (which I wholeheartedly agree with), “the album delivers nine tracks of heavy, organic music that melds exhilarating ambitiousness with a well-honed accessibility.”

“We went into the studio with the idea of slamming out a record that’s played live, heavy-as-shit and the way we feel it should be done,” says Ape Machine guitarist Ian Watts. “Bringing Ikey Owens in as producer and guest organist added another dimension and a musical co-conspirator. We kept things fully analog throughout the mix process for an end result that’s raw, uncut Ape Machine.”
