Catalepsy Did Not Inhale, Get Arrested

The thing about being a band is that…well, not Disturbed is that touring can be a real sunnuvabitch. You travel in a piece of poop van, barely eat because food costs money, and from time to time, instead of sleeping in the back of the van, you meet some friendly fans who offer you a bed. Oh, and they have a shower — something you haven’t seen in weeks — and they said you could do a load or two before you bolt to the next gig. Only sometimes, those friendly fans ultimately end up being shady, but that’s the chance you take.Unfortunately for Floridan death metal band Catalepsy, one good turn ended up with a turn in jail.
According to a statement the band provided to Lambgoat, the band played a gig at Hooligan’s Pub and Music Hall in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and they were offered a place to sleep. Like life in most small-ass towns across the country, word spread fast “that we were staying there and about 15 more kids showed up. Noise escalated and the cops were called due to a noise complaint.”
Then, the situation went from shitty to “He is my property, you dick monster.” Three of the band dudes were outside, chillin’, “blunts were being rolled by the kids but none of the weed belonged to Catalepsy. Cops smelled the weed and barged in the house. All the locals were cited and released but since Catalepsy was from another state, the Jacksonville P.D. arrested Sean, Mike and I [Rob] for possession even though we had no weed. Fifteen hundred dollars and eleven grueling hours in the county jail later, we were released. We played one more show to get the gas money to drive back down to Florida since we all have court.”
Rank. I hope the charges don’t stick. But let this be a lesson to all of you young bands out there, touring. Don’t let this happen to you.
