Chimaira Frontman Admits To Jail Stint, Avoids Buttrape

As you know by now, Cleveland, Ohio, metal outfit Chimaira performed last night in San Antonio, Texas, without frontman Mark Hunter — who was in the pokey after getting busted in El Paso for possessing the weed.Faithful reader Estefan Ortega was at the show, and checked in on our Facebook page with this report: “I’ve seen Chimaira 4 times live and that might very well have been the best I’ve ever seen them. Mark is the fucking man, but Sean killed it last night. They honestly didn’t skip a beat without the guy. There’s no reason for Chimaira fans to miss this tour.”
The Sean he references is keyboardist Sean Zatorsky, who stepped in for Hunter.
For his part, Hunter took to Twitter with this message: “Out of the clink. Didn’t drop the soap…I deeply apologize to the fans of San Antonio. I was detained at the same spot they got [country singer] Willie [Nelson for marijuana possession]. You know I will make it up to you.”
The Gauntlet claims Hunter — knowing the show could still happen without him — threw himself on the pot grenade, so the whole band wouldn’t get busted. I used to not like Mark Hunter, because of something he did to me while I was at MTV News…but he’s got my respect back. Which means nothing to him.
