Tonight, during the Sick of it All, Cro-Mags, and Vision of Disorder show at Webster Hall in New York, Harley Flannegan — founding member and former bassist of the Cro-Mags — reportedly stumbled into the VIP lounge with a knife, and stabbed Cro-Mags bassist Mike “The Gook” Couls (also formerly of Cold As Life and Sworn Enemy).
Reports claim Flannegan bit two others during the CBGB Festival, and was removed from the venue tied to a fucking chair.
Security quickly responded, beating Flannegan into a bloody pulp. Reports claim it took six dudes to regain control at the chaotic show. “Blood was everywhere, and bone protruded from his shin,” says one report.
Cops quickly appeared and took Harley away in cuffs. It is not known yet what the actual criminal charges are, but I’m going to assume assault, assault with a deadly weapon, and attempted murder.
The incident pushed fans who were on the fence regarding Flannegan’s sanity completely off the fence.
It seems Couls was stabbed in the chest. Reports are conflicting and confusing at this time.
The rest of the show was canceled once the stabbing occurred. The remaining bands promised to reschedule the show.
We will have more details for you as they become available.
I blame bath salts.
Update: The organizers of the CBGB Fest have issued the following statement: “We are saddened to learn about the events that occurred last night at Webster Hall. Our primary concern is always the safety and experience of New Yorkers, music fans and the general public. Naturally we will fully cooperate with law enforcement while hoping for the speedy recovery of those injured. Live music can be incredibly uplifting, empowering and positive. We don’t feel the actions of one person should overshadow four amazing days and nights of events that include today’s historic and unprecedented free concerts in Times Square and Central Park.”
