Darkthrone’s Fenriz Talks Crazy In New Interview

Fenriz

You’ve got to love Darkthrone’s Fenriz. The dude has no filter between his brain and his mouth and just spouts off like a teenage girl who just got her first menses. You know? He recently spoke with LA Music Blog, and damn, is the dude quotable!

When asked if the band took a specific approach with last year’s Circle the Wagons, Fenriz could’ve said “Nope.” Instead…

“There is never any intention; we make what we need to make — in other words, what our hearts tell us to. The opposite would be doing the Christian thing of trying to control every next step, and also the way we record this and that and how we write. There are no plans, and we only write one song each at a time. So there you have it — we are the definition of keeping it so real it’s unreal.”

Wait…did a black metal guy just use co-opt the phrase “Keeping it real” and then make it even cheesier than it normally would be? “Keeping it so real it’s unreal?” That’s fucking genius right there. This guy’s a mad genius.

Fenriz also bemoans the sudden surge in black metal’s widespread popularity. “Seeing how press, newer clueless ‘scene’ people, and record companies alike changed everything plastic and hyperfast into being ‘BM,’ the party had just gotten too lame to hang out at anymore,” he says.

Fenriz also says that the band will be working on new shit this coming year, which is cool.

Wow… now THIS is one of the worst articles I’ve ever read. Do you try to construct a joke or something? Anyway… you wrote something about Fenriz, so i guess in your world you are cool now.
