Exhumed Reform, Prepare To Crush Heads

Posted by Chris Harris on July 1, 2010 in News

Remember Exhumed? Sure you don’t. But Exhumed were at the forefront of the gore grind movement of the mid- to late 1990s. The band were signed with Relapse and have undergone more lineup shifts than Van Halen, Metallica, and Nine Inch Nails combined. But the good news is, after a five-year break, the band will return with founding guitarist and vocalist Matt Harvey.

The 2010 version of the band will also boast returning bassist Leon DelMuerte, guitarist Wes Caley, and drummer Danny Walker. Exhumed (or Exhumed 2010, as they’re calling themselves) will start recording music soon, with a release for the unnamed follow-up to 2033’s Anatomy Is Destiny planned for next spring.

“I’m totally [fucking] psyched to be making music with Exhumed again,” Harvey comments online. “It’s been way too long. After a few years off and away from the death metal scene, I feel rejuvenated and ready to hack, maim and kill once again. I wanted this to be a continuation of what the band was doing and was on its way to doing, not a reunion or some weird nostalgia thing.”

Harvey adds that the band’s been writing for several months, and promises big things: “It should combine the directness of [2000‘s] Slaughtercult and the intricacy of Anatomy… so it’s definitely gonna be our strongest record yet.”

The band will also perform next year as part of Maryland Deathfest 2011 and want fans to help them pick their set list. How novel!
