Former Queensrÿche Frontman: Band Wanted Him Out For Over A Year
Posted by Chris Harris on October 12, 2012 in NewsGeoff Tate and the Queensrÿche dudes are slowly but surely damaging the band’s legacy with this fucking legal battle.
Here’s the latest: Tate is asking a judge to deny his former bandmates’ request to keep him from using the Queensrÿche name until their dispute is resolved.
Queensrÿche canned Tate in June.
In her ruling against Tate, Superior Court Judge Carol A. Schapira determined that there was no legal hurdle in Tate also using the name with an all-new lineup of musicians.
“I don’t see any reason that Mr. Tate can’t have the benefit, if he gets other members, of whatever name he uses of using the brand,” the judge said. “I think [doing that would be] inherently confusing, although I’m sure the market can get these things sorted out.”
Tate recently confirmed he’d be supporting Alice Cooper on a Canadian tour and that a Queensrÿche “anniversary tour” would follow in 2013. He also revealed the members of his new band.
Rudy Sarzo is in the band, playing bass. Glen Drover, known for his work with Megadeth and King Diamond, will be on guitars, and Ratt’s Bobby Blotzer will man the kit.
