Gaza Rape Allegations “Resolved”

The accuser

An agreement has been reached between the two parties involved in an alleged rape — one of them, being some chick and the other, Gaza vocalist Jon Parkins.

A post on the accuser’s blog says that “both parties have mutually agreed on a resolution for this matter.”

The accuser says she “agreed to delete all mentions and posts about this incident from my blog, and I will refrain from posting about this incident again.”

I wonder how, exactly, this was resolved?

“Neither of us are retracting our respective statements— instead we are deciding to not discuss it further and move on,” she writes. Ah, so that’s how it’s being resolved — let’s ignore it.

“This agreement means I will be unable to answer questions about this. I want to apologize to Gaza as a whole, my intention never was to damper the reputation or musical careers of the members, and I apologize to them. I apologize for involving the band in accusations and handling it poorly in a way that influences the members of Gaza and other well intentioned people involved with their career and music.

“Both of us would like people not to disparage either party and move on,” she concludes. “This is the last thing I will post about the incident.”

Good. Next time, if you’re really serious about your claim of being raped, file charges.

To be fair, this country has had a bad history of not taking many many many rape cases seriously. In this case, though no party could produce evidence in one way or another after the accusing party claimed to have it, and that leads me to believe it was a stunt to promote one party/prove some sort of point.
