Green Day Inducting Guns N’ Roses Into Rock Hall

Green Day

They couldn’t get anyone more — I don’t know — METAL to do it? Or anyone affiliated with the genre?

They had to get fucking Green Day?!?

Rolling Stone says Green Day will deliver Guns N’ Roses’ induction speech when the rockers are inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame on April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio.

That’s fucking lame. I hate that that’s happening.

By the way, Matt Sorum claims at least one person won’t be showing for the ceremony.

Sorum tells VH1 Radio Network’s Dave Basner that founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin will be a no-show.

“[Slash] spoke to Izzy and Izzy wasn’t planning on coming. So I think that was like, if Izzy’s not going to come and it’s not all the original guys, then it doesn’t make sense,” Sorum says.

This is so lame, the “hall” is run by rolling stone, and they’re putting musical importance aside, and pandering to people that have helped them sell magazines.  Green Day? I mean I enjoy their music, but I’m with you Chris, WTF is their connection to GNR?  Also, as much as I love GNR, and Appetite For Destruction (to me it is one of the best hard rock / metal albums of all time), but there is a list a mile long of bands that have influenced more bands, and are much more deserving of being in the hall, Kiss, Rush, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, UFO, Scorpions, Motorhead, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Motley Crue, etc. the list can go on and on.  All of the bands listed have helped shape hard rock and metal, more so than GNR IMO.  But how many of those bands (aside from Motley Crue) has helped Rolling Stone sell issues?  Slash didn’t want this to turn into the VH debacle, but unless they pull a rabbit out of a hat (or someones head out of someone’s ass) this has (night) train wreck or sucktacular (e.g. Spaghetti Incident II) written all over it.
