Homophobic Guitarist Quits Useless Band

Posted by Chris Harris on January 12, 2013 in Departures, News

It's Mike!

Damn. That was quite a backlash, and one that was totally deserved. A backlash so intense that homosexual-hating guitarist Mike Reynolds has gone and quit that needless fucking Christian metalcore band For Today.

That was fast. I am proud of you, internet. You really stepped up, what with your critical Tweets and your spreading of links to stories reporting on this douchebag’s ignorant comments. Nicely done.

“Mike Reynolds is no longer a part of For Today,” the band that fired him says in a statement.

“He has decided that now is the time for he and his wife to put their plans in motion to enroll in Bible college, and to begin working toward full-time missions work in the Middle East,” the statement says. Good. I hope that prick steps on an IED…assembled by a gay terrorist.

“Mike will be replaced by longtime friend of the band, and former In The Midst Of Lions guitar player, Sam Penner, who will be appearing with the band as they headline their upcoming Fight The Silence tour,” the statement says.

Just to recap, Reynolds Tweeted the other day that homosexuality is a sin, and then made inappropriate comments about the Newtown massacre.

Have fun in Bible school, you evil but more importantly dumb motherfucking sack of shit.

Now, here’s the band’s singer trying to claim the guys aren’t hateful cowards.

Thank you for that fantastic headline.

” Have fun in Bible school, you evil but more importantly dumb motherfucking sack of shit.”

How tolerant of you. I find it funny that when a Christian says being Gay is a Sin it is seen an unequivocally “Gay-Hating” statement. Yet you take it upon yourself to perpetuate even more hatred by calling the person who said that quote a “Motherfucking sack of shit”. Your eloquence obviously knows no bounds.

You go on to say that you hope he “steps on an IED”.

your statements lack ANY semblance of the very thing you preach (tolerance), and are comparitive to that of a juvinille delinquent who has yet to reach high school. It’s no wonder you are no longer the news editor of Noisecreep, and instead have been relegated to this blog.

I’m not defending the comments that Reynolds made, nor am I trying to. But this piece of Hate you have written makes you no better than the “God Hates F*gs” people of Westboro Baptist Church. Before you say that’s an extreme comparison, look at your article again. You say that you hope Reynolds “steps on an IED”, hoping for the DEATH of someone because of what they SAID. If that’s not intolerance, NOTHING is.

Take the high road and be the better man. Practice what YOU preach.

      Ryan,

I am an extremist, and respond as such when encountering evil, cowardly ignorance.

Also, the IEDs, in all likelihood, will already be there, in the ground, waiting for someone to step on them.

I’d rather he step on one than a loving, accepting innocent child.

So you’re a self-proclaimed extremist? In what way is your extremism any better than Reynolds’s? How is wishing that Reynolds “steps on an IED” tolerable to you, when Reynolds saying that homosexuality is a sin makes him a “motherfucking piece of shit” in your view?

Fighting what you declare to be hate with more hate of your own solves nothing. It only creates more hate and divides us further.

So let me get this straight. Because you’re a self-proclaimed “extremist”, you expect your views to be tolerated ,(accepted?) regardless on how offensive some people may find them, but someone like Mike Reynolds’s “extremist” views are intolerant and must be met with even more hateful rhetoric than his initial comments contained?

Right! I forgot it worked like that, complete with Double Standards and all! That’s right!

If only I was as enlightened as yourself…
