Howard Stern Lauds Evergreen Terrace

The other day, I was listening to Howard Stern and Fred Norris played a version of “Everlong” by the Foo Fighters that I couldn’t quite place, but it sounded awfully close to the original. I just figured it was a different version of the tune by the Foo Fighters, actually — they’ve been known to change things up from time to time.

So anyways, this dude wrote into the show Monday and asked who was behind that cover, which Norris admitted was an accident, but a happy mistake.

Calling them “edgy,” and saying “he liked it,” Stern listened to the band’s cover, and commented on it throughout. “Very nice,” he said at one point.

“I like their version,” Stern said in closing. “Very, very good.”

This, coming from a man who has rather mediocre taste in modern music. It is still high praise.

Evergreen Terrace are selling the song on iTunes, presumably with the Foos’ blessing. You know how to find it.

Later in the same show, Stern interview the Melvins’ Dale Crover about his decision to NOT play drums for Nirvana. Interesting show, it was.
