Iron Thrones Are The Business

Iron Thrones

Last week, I went to Brooklyn to catch The Binary Code’s gig and there, was introduced to Iron Thrones. I had been reading about this dude’s for a while, and but never checked them out, out of pure laziness. And I was sufficiently rocked by this progressive Minneapolis metal outfit. I even left the show with a copy of their new EP, The Wretched Sun.

Iron Thrones’ set was amazingly heavy. Like, Walter Hudson heavy. They performed in a space smaller than my bathroom, and delivered a tight, riff-rife show that had me proclaiming, “Holy fuck!” These guys are definitely worth checking out if you’ve never heard them before — there’s a song at the bottom of this post, for those who’re as lazy as I am.

Also worth checking out: The Binary Code, who headlined the show and had the whole place mesmerized, pummeling the crowd with powerful, fiery, devastatingly chaotic cacophony.

By the way, Iron Thrones won a contest not too long ago, and hence, were mentored by the members of Shadows Fall, recorded an EP produced by Will Putney, shopped for their stage and photo shoot clothing with the very single Maria Brink of In This Moment and received advice from the likes of Ben Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan.

Actually, The Wretched Sun is the EP that was recorded by Will Putney from the Machine Shop, not Machine himself. You can watch the mentoring sessions, the shopping trip (hi Maria!), in-studio footage and much more at
