Metallica Have Started Writing New Material

Metallica

In a new interview with Tabloid!, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo says Metallica are actually working on new songs without the revered Lou Reed.

I guess that means we should be excited…I guess?

“We’ve been busy writing and recording,” Robbie says. “We’ve got a couple of new songs we have been working on the past couple of weeks. The writing process for the new Metallica album has begun.”

Did Lulu just kill it for you folks too? I mean, Death Magnetic was not necessarily a step in the right direction, it was at least a step forward. I see LuluMetallouca’s forthcoming album — as at least five steps back.

“We’ve been in the studio with Rick Rubin, working on a couple of things, and we’re going to be recording during the most of next year,” Trujillo added. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us. But the great thing is that we have sort of already jumped off the launch pad and we’re swimming. It’s happening. It’s reality. It’s a lot of fun, there are a lot of ideas, and we’re really excited about the new record.”

That makes four of you.

“For me, personally, Death Magnetic was the launch pad for the next record,” Robbie concluded. “This is the beginning of something very, very cool.”

And by cool, I’m sure he meant laughable.

“Death Magnetic was not necessarily a step in the right direction”

Are you kidding? That and St. Anger put them back on the tracks back to trash metal, what they’re initially good at and known for. You think I want to listen to more shit like the Black Album or Load and Reload?
