Former Dreamer Theater drummer Mike Portnoy was hyping a big announcement all day. What was it? Something we already knew about, I think.

A new band called Adrenaline Mob, which also features Russell Allen of Symphony X. Mike and Russell have been working on the project for months, and at one time, were calling it Undaunted, I think — I’m not sure. Maybe Undaunted is something different. It’s possible.

The band also contains guitarist Mike Orlando, bassist Paul DiLeo, and Stuck Mojo guitarist Rich Ward.

According to Facebook, fans can expect “huge riffs, slamming grooves and shredding playing” from the band. It sounds exciting. But the name Adrenaline Mob.

The band will play an exclusive one-off intimate live show at the Hiro Ballroom in New York on June 24 at 8 p.m.

Completely irrelevant to the article, but Sounds of a Playground Fading is a very very good album indeed.
