Old Man Gloom Making A Comeback?

Kurt Ballou

If a recent Facebook post from Kurt Ballou of Converge is to be believed, yes.

The Converge guitarist and sought-after producer Kurt Ballou is hinting that the sludgy doom metal project featuring members of Converge, Doomriders, Cave In, Zozobra, Agoraphobic Nosebleed and alumni of Isis (namely, Aaron Turner) are working on something. Things are percolating.

“Rise and Fall is done! Old Man Gloom next,” Kurt writes.

The band’s been dormant ever since 2004, when they released their last album, Christmas, through Tortuga.

Man, this is some fucking great news. It’s been far too long and we need more music from these dudes.

UPDATE: A few days later, Ballou posted the following online, rendering this post null and void: “Whoops. Nevermind about Old Man Gloom. They forgot to write songs, so they’ve cancelled.” Fucking thing sucks.
