Phil Anselmo Talks Solo LP, Book

I know someone who named their dog after Pantera’s Phil Anselmo, which is fine. But she always has to explain why she did, which, I think, drains the cool right out of such a move. My cat is named Dante. I’ll give you two guesses why. Do I ever need to explain it to people? No. If his name was Dimebag, I wouldn’t feel the need to explain to people why I chose that name. I don’t know, I’m just in a cranky mood, I guess.

Let’s get to the heart of the matter: Phil Anselmo is coming out with some new shit, and he spoke with some blog about all of his goings on. There’s a new Down disc coming, as well as Anselmo’s solo record and the man’s autobiography. I didn’t even know Phil could read.

“I’m just writing new material and by no means is it finished,” says Phil. “It’s really just in demo form right now. It’s just me and a drummer, this kid from around here, nobody that anybody knows, just a session guy that learns real fast and does what I say. So yeah, if this stuff comes around like I think it’s going to come around, then definitely, I think people should be hearing this stuff. And that’s exciting. It’s an exciting prospect right there.”

Let’s hope people get to hear it…what’s the fucking point otherwise? Anselmo has his own label (the man, not the dog), so I’m sure he’ll find some way of getting it out to the people who still give a shit about him after the way he responded to Dimebag’s murder.
