So, This New Soundgarden Song’s Got Me Worried

Soundgarden

I was worried yesterday, and now, today, as I listen to the official audio released by the band, I’m still worried about the new Soundgarden album.

After hearing this new song, “Been Away Too Long” (which, ironically, may actually be true), and that song from “The Avengers,” I’m worried.

Aside from the one riff towards the end, I’m finding I’m not digging this song, really. Maybe I need to listen to it 1,000 more times and it will clique, but…dare I say it?…I wish Audioslave were still around.

Is it me, or are the drums weak sauce? I’m not used to that. And remember — this is all my opinion, which soldiers died on foreign soils protecting my freedom to express. Sorry, been dealing with Knuckleheads the last 24 hours.

Anyways, the song that follows at the end of this post is from Soundgarden’s forthcoming album, King Animal, which comes out on November 13.

I seriously hope the rest of the album destroys this crap, because I feel like this could have been a B-side from that Chris Cornell hip-hop record.

Why don’t you go and lock yourself in a room with Coldplay records instead putting down to my all time fav band and this song has nothing to be with Avengers one!!!!!!! have a nice day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vocals…a bit lacking, but only because it sounds like he tries too hard at times, he just doesnt have the pipes he used to have. Still a wonderful voice…much more suited I believe for a song like Seasons and not Birth Ritual. Diehard fan…i have the badmotorfinger logo tattooed to my upper right arm and snippets of lyrics on both arms. Obviously Soundgarden and Chris Cornell have made a lasting impression. I can’t wait for the album because I know there will be musical gems within. As far as weaksauce drums…obviously you are mostly deaf, Matt Cameron is probably the most gifted and amazing drummer in rock and roll. Period.

I’m not Lovin it much either. The vocals are too whiney mixed with music better suited to video games than a rock stage. Maybe it will grow on me but right now it’s torturing the Soundgarden lover inside of me. :( sadly everything I’ve heard off the new album upsets me.

sounds nothing like audioslave and there must be 5 different movements within this song that collectively kick some serious ass….how nice it is to have your blog but serious you need your head examined, this is soundgarden as they were and everything as I recall and I grinning ear to ear..
