Suicide Silence Did Something Nice, Take Credit For It

Suicide Silence do it for the kids

I hope all of you had just the merriest freakin’ Christmas ever. Me?

I spent the morning with my beautiful niece, playing Angry Birds, building Lego prisons, and making silly videos. I got to see my kick-ass sister and my kick-ass brother-in-law, and my amazing parents. We laughed, dished out gentle ribbings, watched “March of the Wooden Soldiers” (a Harris family tradition), caught up, and enjoyed what may have been the best meal I’ve had in a long time.

What did California deathcore doofuses Suicide Silence do this Christmas? They actually did something kind of awesome and touching and basically selfless…only, then they turned it into a publicity “opportunity,” which truly speaks volumes about these dudes.

This is what they did. They auctioned off the fake-blood covered wife beater Mitch Lucker appropriately enough wore during the video for “You Only Live Once.” They made $800 from the online auction, and used the money to buy toys for needy kids.

They’ve released that photo and video from the toy giveaway, too. Wasn’t that nice for them…I mean, of them?

What nice dudes? They auctioned off a shirt no one would wanna wear to their dumb fans, took the money and bought a bunch of toys. Don’t get me wrong — buying toys for needy kids is a truly nice gesture…if, at the end of the day, it is something you do anonymously.

Instead, now, we all know.

Oh, and don’t forget people — Suicide Silence of course have an album in stores and will support Machine Head next month on their North American tour. Don’t forget to catch it, and buy some merch while you’re there and support these nice guys.

I wonder if something bad is about to come out about some dude in this band. Maybe this was a pre-emptive move. Either way, it was calculated, well-documented, and publicized.

Merry fucking Christmas, douche nozzles.

I actually like when celbrities do charity publicly, it sets a good example. An auction isn’t very selfless but it’s still something that will benefit needy kids. I guess they did something right because this is the first I’ve heard of their band.
