The writing of the new Watain album is over, and the recording of the new Watain album has commenced.

I knew there’d be something good about today, and this is it.

“Since the harvest, Watain have been occupied with preparations for a long and hard journey,” says a statement from the band.

“Seeds have been sown, blades have been sharpened and new fires have been lit to illuminate the untrodden tunnels that lay before us as we descend further down the maze…”

The band entered the studio January 3 — three years to the day after they started the recording sessions for Lawless Darkness.

Watain returned to Necromorbus Studio and began working on what is to become the fifth full length album of the band’s career.

The tentative time of release is now set for August 2013.

More details will be unveiled soon.
