Black Sabbath Expected To Haul In $159 Million For Reunion

Posted by Chris Harris on November 15, 2011 in News, Shamelessness

Feather-haired Black Sabbath

Cha-ching!

That’s some fucking bank, people. That’s probably why Geezer Butler flip-flopped on a Black Sabbath reunion. Remember, back in February, that he had this to say: “I would like to make it clear, because of mounting speculation and rumors, that there will be definitely no reunion of all four original members of Black Sabbath, whether to record an album or to tour.”

According to U.K.’s The People, Black Sabbath will rake in more than $150 million dollars for their 2012 reunion tour and festival appearances.

That’s $40 million for each member. That’s why Geezer had a change of heart.

Lamb Of God Announce East Coast Club Dates

Posted by Chris Harris on November 15, 2011 in News, Tour Dates

Lamb of God

I’m sick.

I woke up this morning about three times; 4 a.m. for ten minutes, then back to sleep; 6 for another five minutes, mostly to pee; and then around 9 a.m., when I called my bosses to tell them I can’t stop coughing and have lost my voice. So, I’m running behind today. The good news is Lamb of God finally released these East Coast club dates that have been so heavily rumored the last two weeks.

There’s only six club shows along the East Coast, which is amazing. I mean, Lamb of God haven’t played club shows in eons, no? The trek starts in their hometown of Richmond on January 22, and all of the dates can be found after the jump. There are also a bunch of international dates you should check out, mang.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Drummer Going Back To High School

Posted by Chris Harris on November 15, 2011 in Huh?, News

Munch

Damn.

Now that Ozzy Osbourne’s drummer is Bill Ward again, Ozzy’s solo drummer — Tommy Clufetos, known for his work with Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper — seemingly has time on his hands.

Clufetos will be appearing at Rochester Adams High School Auditorium in Rochester Hills, Michigan, on Tuesday, December 13.

That’s Tommy’s old alma mater. Tommy is not going back to learn.

Presumably, he’s going to speak, or give some sort of demonstration, given Tommy’s the school’s most well-known alumni — after Madonna and some Olympic swimmer dudes.

Machine Head To Tour With Darkest Hour, Suicide Silence

Posted by Chris Harris on November 14, 2011 in News, Tour Dates

Machine Head

Man, it’s been ages since I’ve been near my computer.

The next two weeks are going to be madness…like today was. I am watching my parents’ dog Remy for them while they’re away, and have to do my day job, write for Gun Shy Assassin, and somehow still find time to get my car fixed and run errands. Fuck me in the mouth with a slice of pizza!

So, yeah…I would’ve gotten these to you sooner, but I was busy. Machine Head, as we had previously reported, are touring! They are touring. It’s the first time in, like, 200 years.

Who’s on the bill? Darkest Hour, and then Suicide Silence and Rise To Remain also.

Unfortunately, Suicide Silence are pooping…playing, I mean, before Machine Head, so if I wanna see Darkest Hour, I still have to go see Suicide Silence. Crap.

Bummer Alert: Full Blown Chaos Cancel Another Tour

Posted by Chris Harris on November 14, 2011 in News, This Blows

Ray Mazzola

You know what kind of blows?

Getting a call from your day job at 6:40 in the morning to cover for someone. Oh, and you’re two hours away, because you had other plans that involved starting work when you typically do, at 10ish. And then you can’t get news up on your awesome blog all day because the work day gets away from you.

You know what else kind of really blows? Full Blown Chaos canceling yet another tour. These dude just have shit luck. You think you have bad luck. You don’t. They’re the kings of bad luck.

Full Blown Chaos has cancelled its tour with Rose Funeral, Battlecross and Diamond Plate; the aforementioned tour will continue on, without Full Blown Chaos — as most tours they pull out of do.

According to a statement from Ironclad Recordings, “No further info is available from Full Blown Chaos at this time.”

Posted by Chris Harris on November 14, 2011 in News

Misery Signals

Misery Signals is back in active mode, years after the band’s last record saw the fuzzy glow of retail light.

According to Misery Signals, they are currently working on material for their next full-length.

Frontman Karl Schubach tells Lambgoat.com that morning the band has several roughly developed songs thus far, with plans to “really buckle down in these next few months and commit ourselves to this new record.”

Misery Signals tentatively plans to enter the studio in early 2012 to start tracking, though neither a studio nor producer have been selected just yet.

The next record will be the band’s final under their current contract with Ferret Music.

Austrian Death Machine Christmas Single Coming Soon

Posted by Chris Harris on November 14, 2011 in News

Yum

That’s right!

Austrian Death Machine will be releasing two Christmas-themed singles this December, and our own Chad Ackerman checked in to give us a head’s up on that and his other projects.

One of the tracks, says Chad, called “Turbo Man,” features Josh Robert Thomson handling the Governator’s vocals.

The other single is called “I’m Not a Pervert,” with Ackerman as Arnold.

“Both titles were taken from the movie ‘Jingle All The Way,’” Chad reports. “Metal Blade is releasing the songs in December, but they have not given me a set date.”

Meanwhile, Chapter 14 has “recorded a single called ‘The Bad Shepherd,’” says Chad. “We are making a music video for it right now,” and there is no release date yet for the track.

Prong Sign New Deal With Long Branch/SPV

Posted by Chris Harris on November 14, 2011 in New Records, News

Prong

That’s right, dudes and dudettes.

You may already know this, because I kept forgetting to bring this news to you folks last week, BUT, heavy music innovators Prong have signed a worldwide recording contact.

Whom with? Long Branch Records/SPV, that’s who. The band’s as-yet-untitled new album is due in stores this spring.

Prong formed in 1986, and were pioneers of the American post-hardcore and post-metal scenes whose influence is still being felt today.

Said frontman Tommy Victor of the signing: “I feel like Prong has come full circle. We have the same energy and excitement about our music that we did at the beginning of our career. With Long Branch/SPV, we’ve found people to work with who are very supportive of us and what Prong has accomplished so far in our career.”

Ligeia Give New EP Away For Free

Posted by Chris Harris on November 14, 2011 in New Records, News

I'd ligeia her

So, this is kind of cool. Make that real cool.

Ligeia have released their new EP — called Welcome To Palm City as a free download.

That’s right — a band produced an album, and are just straight up giving it away.

And I’m just one song into it, and I think it’s righteous. And again, free. You can’t beat that.

The other night, I had to work late, and my day job provided us with pizza. I ate five slices.

Two pepperoni, two plain, and one sweet italian sausage slice. How sweet it was. Oh soooo sweet. Like stank vagina.

But that’s neither here, there, or in your underwear, so, I digress.

Metallica Drummer Settles Suit With Former Assistant

Posted by Chris Harris on November 14, 2011 in News

Lars Ulrich, actual size

Lars Ulrich has settled a lawsuit. You know what that means? He was in the wrong.

According to reports, the Metallica drummer settled a suit brought by his former personal assistant — a dude by the name of Steven Wiig.

Wiig sued for what the suit claimed was years of unpaid overtime wages. Wiig’s suit was filed in February, and said he worked for Lars between 2001 to 2009.

Wiig’s suit claims he often worked 70 hours a week while Lars was home, and another 10 hours when Metallica were on the road.

Wiig’s suit says he worked as Ulrich’s chauffeur, managed his art collection, arranged scheduling and performed numerous other tasks and errands at Lars’ request — like that time he had to dispose of that Thai hooker. Wiig said he was paid $45,000 a year (THAT’S IT???) and had an oral agreement for annual bonuses.
