Trevor Strnad’s Deadspeak: The List

Trevor Strnad's Deadspeak

The thing I love about Black Dahlia Murder frontman Trevor Strnad’s “Deadspeak” column is sometimes, it’s a blog…other times, the lyrics to songs. When I told Trevor he could do anything in his column, I meant it. If he wanted to take a picture of his shit and send that in, that was a column. This week, he brings us a list…just a list, with very little explanation but a list that must’ve taken some time to prepare. Trevor’s explanation follows, but I must say…it’s a solid list of records. Basically, you should probably own most of these records …not because I think you should but because Trevor knows his shit. So without further stalling, here is Trevor’s latest installment of “Deadspeak.”

Here are thirty metal CDs that kicked my ass in 2010. There are still plenty of albums I’m catching up on…but there were a lot of great releases this year, in my humble opinion.

4. Deathspell Omega – Paracletus
5. Black Breath – Heavy Breathing
6. Kerasphorus – Cloven Hooves At The Holocaust Dawn
7. Immolation – Majesty And Decay
8. Watain – Lawless Darkness
9. Der Weg Einher Freiheit – s/t
10. Fleshgod Apocalypse – Mafia

About Trevor Strnad

Trevor Strnad is the vocalist for Detroit, Michigan's The Black Dahlia Murder. The death metal band -- veterans of both the Ozzfest and Mayhem stages -- released its fourth LP, Deflorate, in 2009 through long-time label home Metal Blade. He's also an all-around great guy who loves collecting death metal from 1988 to 1996 and probably outbid you on eBay for that Adramelech CD

    • Trevor Strnad

    • Trevor Strnad

  • Metal617

dude, where’s Fragments of Form and Function, by Allegaeon? all other albums are deserving as well, but Allegaeon needs to be on there cause they are one of the best new bands out right now. You guys in Black Dahlia should tour with them, since you are on the same label, and because that would be a perfect pairing for a tour.

I disagree with Dimmu making the list… Shitty album all the way around in my opinion.

  • Fleshgrinder

what about Murder Construct. Their ep is grind as shit.

    • Trevor Strnad

Ah! Christ! I did really like that Murder Construct disc. Would’ve made the top 15, no doubt if it hadn’t slipped my mind. I forgot to mention Endless Disease as well. Fucking loved that latest demo. Trap Them Filth Rations should’ve been on there too… so killer.

  • Ian

I stumbled across “Son of Aurelius – The Farthest Reaches” this year and is really an awesome record. If you haven’t heard it, check it out, I highly recommend it.

  • bow2TBDM
