That band of 8th graders from Brooklyn, Unlocking the Truth, have signed a major label fucking recording deal with Sony Music.
That’s fucking awesome but at the same time scary. That’s a lot of pressure to put on kids that age, but it certainly seems the band’s willing and up for the challenge.
As you’re probably aware, Unlocking the Truth has been making news since last year, when video of them performing in Times Square went viral.
The band’s manager tells the Post a Sony executive called him after seeing that very video.
The $1.8 million deal is impressive, considering this is a band with no proven track record. But basically, the boys have to pull off the immensely difficult.
They’ll receive a $60,000 advance, but won’t see much more unless they sell 250,000 copies of their debut.
That’s a lot for today’s industry.
The boys will earn 17-percent in royalties from the album’s sales.
A lot of pressure on these three.
The five-album contract was submitted to a Manhattan judge on Friday because of the age of the musicians.
