Alice Cooper Relates To Charlie Sheen

Frankly, I’m done talking about Charlie Sheen. It was funny for, like, a week. But now, I’m over it. Moving on. Alice Cooper, who was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is not over talking about Sheen.

The self-admitted longtime recovering alcoholic said in a recent interview that he relates to Sheen. Not in a “We’re both good looking dudes” way, or even a “Let’s hang with reformed porn stars and destroy our fucking careers” sort of way, but a much different way.

“I relate to him on one level; When I was an alcoholic, I was the most functional alcoholic there was,” Alice said. “In other words — I was drinking too much, everybody knew it, everybody saw that I was, y’know, getting sick — but, when it came to doing my job, I was dead on, when it came to doing a show.”

Alice defends Sheen, saying that if dude was “showing up to do his job on that show, and he’s straight, and he knows his lines, and he’s funny, and he’s not a problem — I don’t know how they can stop the show. He’s actually fulfilling his contract.”

Alice is working on a sequel to his 1975 album Welcome To My Nightmare with producer Bob Ezrin. Welcome 2 My Nightmare is expected to drop this fall.
