All That Remains

The making of a shit pile has ended.

Massachusetts’ own All That Remains has allegedly completed its latest record.

The bastard was recorded in a California recording studio for release later this year or earlier next through Razor & Tie.

Josh Wilbur, a cool dude if ever there was one, produced the disc.

Offered frontbro Philip Labonte:

“Sittin’ at a bar at San Diego international airport. Gonna fly home in a lil bit.

“Our part of the record is done. Nothing more to track. Tones are all picked out and decided on. Solos and overdubs and leads and backing vocals and vocals all done. So, in a weird way, it’s almost as if we’re done being creative for, like, two years. Now it’s all just doing everything we can to get in front of as many people as we can.

“It was an absolute pleasure to work with Josh Wilbur. He and his wife are some of the most down-to-earth and warm people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.

“Josh helped us in new and unexpected ways to do what we always try to do when we put out a record, and that’s release something that challenges what All That Remains is and can do. He’s a great songwriter and producer.”

He added:

“Our longtime friend Jim Fogarty was running engineering duties again, and, as usual, he was awesome to work with and his input was incredibly helpful. He’s been a friend and recorded projects I’ve worked in since I was 17. Over 20 fucking years. I’ve learned a lot from him and I’m glad he keeps putting up with us.”

All I know is the new All That Remains record will take yet another obvious step towards rock radio nut-tugging.

For Labonte, who is desperate to be a rock star, that’s all good.

“In the past six months Bleeding Through called it quits, God Forbid called it quits, and just today Shadows Fall has announced that for all intents and purposes they’re calling it quits. I’m so glad ATR have transcended ‘metal’ and have become ‘musicians.’”

He added later:

“Guys, that last post was about ‘metal’ and it wasn’t about the quality of the bands mentioned. It was a reflection on how arbitrary and fickle ‘metal’ fans are. Stop lookin for hate.”

Is “fickle” another way of saying “Your music was never really any good and you wouldn’t know metal if it face-fucked your dog?”
