If you are a fan of Finnish melancholic dark metal outfit Amorphis, I have some good news for you, and hope that it helps to brighten your day.
Amorphis have been demoing new songs as of late, and plan to start recording their 12th studio set soon.
The new album is being eyed for a September release.
Studio sessions are set to begin in April at Jens Bogren’s Fascination Street Studio in Sweden.
According to lyricist Pekka Kainulainen, the new material will cover the usual: “Natural phenomena, seasons and the human mind.”
Additionally, Pekka will devote some lyrics to re-occuring “situations where hope and uncertainty alternate. Attempting to gain advice from higher powers. The poems do not form a complete story per se, but they are drawn together by a certain theme. We live under a red cloud and once again, time weighs us.”
Sounds like a good time, Pekka.
I’d hate to have that first name. I hope for his sake it’s not pronounced the same way that New Englanders say the word “pecker.”
