Sure, Andrew W.K. isn’t metal, and he’d likely be the first dude to admit that, actually. But Andrew W.K. has been embraced by the metal community, and Andrew himself has praised the work of Gunshy Assassin, so really, how bad could he be?

Known for his partying ways, Andrew W.K. would like to party hard this New Year’s with you, and ring in 2014 with a bloody nose.

Maybe.

Andy and LiveNation have announced the “Play With Andrew W.K.” contest, which gives five lucky winners free pairs of tickets to his Irving Plaza New Year’s Eve concert and the chance to perform with Andrew and his full band.

The competition has begun, and is open to the general public.

To enter, prospective guitarists, bassists, key players, vocalists and cowbell players are asked to post a video of themselves playing along to Andrew W.K.s signature song, “Party Hard,” or to play the song unaccompanied in their own style. The more intense and impressive the video, the better, a press release advised.

Then, send video links via Twitter to Andrew W.K.’s handle, with the hashtag #PlayWithAWK.

Enter by December 19, or else, you’ll be doing the same thing you did last New Year’s: Pulling the fucking pud as the ball dropped, hoping for a better year than last and wishing you’d awake from the nightmare that is your existence.

Even if you can’t play an instrument, you can enter to win, and just watch the show from the stage as Andrew’s personal New Year’s Party Guest of Honor.

Included in this prize is a full day of partying with W.K., plus round-trip air fare, and deluxe accommodations for one night at the band’s Manhattan hotel.

To enter just to be his guest of honor, contestants should simply send an email to [email protected], explaining why you deserve to win.

Entrants are asked to include their contact information and mailing address as well.
