Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony — who basically lost his job to his boss’ kid — says he is looking forward to hearing A Different Kind of Truth, Van Halen’s new album.
Why’s he excited? Because the new record features material he recorded with the band long before they were signed in the 1970s.
“They [the current lineup of Van Halen] played a show in New York the other week,” Anthony told U.K. digital radio station Planet Rock. “There was [a] song they played called ‘She’s The Woman,’ which is actually a song that was, basically, written before I even joined Van Halen.”
In the same breathe, Anthony said he has no plans to pursue legal action against his former bandmates for not crediting him with writing part of the track.
“I don’t want to do anything,” Anthony said. “I just let it be. And, hey, it’ll be nice to hear some of those old songs again that I haven’t played in a long time.”
I still maintain it is a tragedy that Michael Anthony has been shut out of a Van Halen reunion. Wolfgang’s cool and all, but fuck, man — Michael Anthony fucking owns.
