Apple iOS 8 Update Safari Issues

March 9th is the day when Apple finally released the latest version of iOS (8.2) at the Spring Forward event. While this update was actually one that many users were expecting because it fixed quite a lot of bugs, but also brought a lot of enhancements, it seems that not everything about it is A-okay.

In fact, there are many users that reported a lot of bugs which are not only very annoying, but also make it hard for them to enjoy using apps that previously worked flawlessly. So what are some of these problems and how can you fix them?

Safari crashes frequently

One of the main problems with the new update are the iOS 8.2 Safari Issues which seem to be driving everyone nuts. The browser basically crashes very often and this makes it impossible to enjoy your internet browsing experience. Some users reported that when they launched Safari they also got only a blank page. It was something like the program had stopped working or became unresponsive. Anyway, there are quite a few ways you can consider to fix these issues, as we’re going to see below.

Clear website data and history on your mobile device

Most of the times it’s website history and data that will slow down the popular iOS browser, so it would be a very good idea if you were to clear them. However, when you do this, all your browsing data, cookies and history are going to be permanently deleted from your device. To do this, you need to first of all go to Settings, tap on Safari and then scroll down until you can find Website Data and Clear History.

Tap this and a window will pop up asking you to confirm that you really want to go ahead and clear your history and website data. Tap yes and your problem should be fixed.

However, one important thing to keep in mind is that before you clear the data and browsing history, to actually access the app switcher and kill Safari. This will ensure that the next you launch it all your browsing history and data is deleted and you can start afresh.

Restart your device

Okay, now that you have managed to delete all your history and browsing data, you need to turn off your device. Restart it and then launch Safari. And that’s about it. Now Safari should be working properly and you should not experience any more problems with it. You should be able to access all of your favorite websites without having to worry about any slowdowns and basically get the same speed and responsiveness as if you’re using it on a new device.
