Jordan Mancino, Phil Sgrosso, Nick Hipa and Josh Gilbert — the members of As I Lay Dying who have not been accused of trying to hire some dude to kill their wives — have issued a collective statement on the arrest of their singer, Tim Lambesis, who allegedly did.
Lambesis, a Christian, was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday (May 7) around 2 p.m. at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Oceanside, California, where he was allegedly purchasing a book on knitting.
I’m kidding. It was probably something about weight lifting. He has been charged with solicitation of another to commit murder of his wife, who resides in Encinitas.
“The legal process is taking its course and we have no more information than you do,” says the band’s statement.
“There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you informed as best we can.
“Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation — and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.
“Thank you for understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.”
Authorities began investigating Lambesis, 32, on May 2, when they received information that he allegedly was trying to get someone to kill his estranged wife, Meggan — with whom he has four children, three adopted.
Tim is sitting in the Vista Jail in California, awaiting his arraignment tomorrow.
Tim’s wife filed for divorce in September.
