Unfortunately for you and me, none of those shows will be happening on U.S. soil. Hence, I sorta ignored this the other day when I saw that death metal icons At The Gates — a band I’ve always been a fan of — was reuniting again for a spate of European gigs.
According to the band, “we had the time of our lives during the 2008 reunion and have decided to do a couple of more shows. Although we won’t be touring extensively, and we stick to the initial promise of not making anymore music.”
I wish these dudes would break that promise and cull a bunch of riffs together for a new album. It would be the band’s first since I was in college. And that, my friends, was back in the 1990s. I’m a geezer. So, if you do not own 1995’s Slaughter of the Soul, I think you should go buy it right now. And while you’re at it, pick me up some Cynic. I need more Cynic in my life. Those dates after the jump.
At The Gates dates:
June 17, 2011 – Metal Town @ Gothenburg, Sweden
July 22, 2011 – Tuska Open Air @ Helsinki, Finland
