If you spent money on the new Morbid Angel record and did not pick up the new Autopsy record, you fucked yourself.
The Autopsy record is actually fucking insane. In fact, awesome beyond words.
I think it is the cat’s pajamas…I really do. And yet, only 600 of you fucks went out to the store and picked it up the first week.
Maybe you forgot it was out? I mean, I can’t explain this. It makes me sad. Bands like Bullet For My Valentine, for instance, debut high on the charts, selling tens of thousands. And fucking Autopsy’s Macabre Eternal, which will be one of the albums on everyone’s year-end best-of lists, sold 600 fucking copies.
The CD landed at #67 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by “new” and “developing” artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. I love that…you’re a new or developing band if you haven’t had an album chart in the Top 100. Stupid.
So, ultimately, that #67 spot thing means absolutely nothing.
Go buy the record. If I were in Autopsy, I’d be like, “What was the fucking point? We get back together, record an album…and for what?”
I guess one could argue they were “out of the spotlight” for a long time.
