So, I guess Axl Rose has no intentions of ever returning to Indonesia.
That’s because the Guns N’ Roses frontman used his social media accounts to called the country’s president, Joko Widodo, a fucking “coward.”
The move follows Widodo’s refusal to stave off the executions of two Australians who’d been convicted in Indonesia of drug smuggling. Axl had written Widodo — a metal fan — a letter, pleading that both prisoners’ lives be spared.
Other letters were sent by Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and one of the dudes from Napalm Death.
But Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were executed yesterday, killed by a firing squad.
“It’s deeply troubling, President Widodo ignoring international outcry…Widodo’s refusal [to] postpone the executions until all legal challenges n’ investigations of corruption [are] resolved is inexcusable. [For] Widodo [to be] out of the country during his big statement refusing [to] take calls or read any last minute pleas [for] the condemned is cowardice. The People of Indonesia deserve better.”
