Balaclava Album Stream: Crimes Of Faith

Balaclava

Today is a special day for the gang here at Gun Shy Assassin. Not only is it site founder Chris Harris’ birthday, but we’ve got a kick-ass new album that we’re exclusively streaming, which you should be checking out right fucking now — that’s to say, go to the end of this post, and press play, suckas.

The album’s called Crimes of Faith and is the debut LP from Balaclava, a crusty Virginia-based punk-infused death thrash outfit. Forcefield Records will unleash this bad boy on August 30. I have been listening to this record for two days now, and can not get enough. I hope you guys enjoy it, too.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Neurosis, His Hero Is Gone and Cursed, Balaclava scorn the simplicity of genre labels, choosing instead to transmute their punk and metal roots into something altogether nastier. Balaclava’s sound ranges from sludgy, crust-ridden dirges to restrained, ominous melodies to moments of blistering triumph, says the band’s camp. This record’s Crimes of Faith a “thoughtful, multifaceted expression of seething animosity and fervent exultation,” a press release states.

I don’t know about all that — I just know I like it a bunch, and I think you should crank that shit posthaste.

Crimes Of Faith:
Victims
Throne of Grace
This City
A Prophet
The Geometer’s Hand
Omega Point
A Prophecy
