I don’t know if any of you are fans of the band Cold, but back in the late 1990s, when they released their eponymous debut, I was a fan.
On occasion, I still throw that fucker on from time to time, because it’s an album that can be listened to from first note to last.
I wasn’t as much of a fan of their older stuff, but that first record is a triumph and a half.
Sadly, Cold’s founding bassist Jeremy Marshall has left the group to work with a different band called Fall To June.
Cold’s frontman Scooter Ward offered the following:
“Jeremy Marshall has signed to a new Jacksonville band called Fall to June. With heavy hearts we write this. He will be missed and has been a member of this band since Cold began. The split was beyond amicable and we wish him all the luck and good wishes with his new project. Music takes people in many different directions through life and we back him up on his decision. We love you Jeremy! We ask Cold Army to check out his new band and hopefully become new fans. Cold will begin writing our new album in December and have decided to take Cold overseas.
“Its been too long since we have been abroad. We have not toured Europe since the late 90s and are excited to play and see the world again. That doesn’t mean that we won’t be touring the states. It just means that we will be adding Europe, Japan and Australia to our touring schedule. Cold needs to be a global act and that is the goal. I thank you all for being patient with us while we are taking a break due to a illness in my family. Thanks for all the good vibes and wishes.
“As you know, I love my Cold Army family very, very much! And I miss you guys. Cold has signed a new bassist to the band and we will announce her later this week.
“We hope that you all welcome her to the family. She is an amazing person and deserves this spot. Long live Cold!!! We are excited for our new beginning and new album. The Cold DVD and album are still being edited and mixed. All is looking amazing beyond expectations. Will have a update on everything with the DVD soon. Love you all.”
It has been announced that Lindsay Manfredi is the band’s new bassist.
“I’d like to thank everyone for all the love and positive messages I’ve received upon the announcement of me becoming a part of the Cold family as the new bassist.
“For me it’s a very serendipitous opportunity, as Cold has been one of the most influential bands in my life. I’m so excited. Looking forward to meeting you all and rocking out with you all.”
