In September, Tommy Vext — formerly of Divine Heresy — was attacked with a crowbar by his estranged brother. The assault landed him in a hospital bed, and strapped him with mounting medical bills that are now well into the tens of thousands. Vext recently spoke to Metal Insider about the attack and a benefit show to help him pay those bills, which is set for November 28.
God Forbid will anchor the benefit, to be held at Santos Party House in New York. Mutiny Within, Dead Men Dreaming, Timeless, Human Decline, Empyreon, The Judas Syndrome, and A Great Day To Die are also all set to perform at the show.
Vext explained how the benefit came about. “Basically Doc Coyle [from God Forbid] and Ria Katz [Santos Party House] came to my hospital bed and told me they wanted to throw a benefit show to help raise money for my medical bills,” Vext tells Metal Insider. “I actually started to tear up.”
Vext says he and Coyle are now working on material together, and have about three to four songs ready to go for a demo. Sounds interesting. Head on over to Metal Insider for more details.
