For years, Brian Cook of the defunct These Ares Are Snakes and the very-much active Russian Circles and Sumac has said that the long-dormant Botch would never, ever get back together again, bumming out thousands of lovers of awesome like myself.
But in a new interview with Noisey, Cook reveals that he’s been instructed by the other dudes who were in Botch to stop saying they’ll never reunite.
That, I’d assume, means a reunion is on the horizon.
In addition to claiming a four song These Arms Are Snakes exists and could surface and that Russian Circles should have a new album out in ’16, he says of Botch:
“Seems to be the ongoing question. I have always said ‘never,’ but I have now been instructed by the other dudes in the band to stop saying that. It’s funny because as opposed to These Arms are Snakes, Botch felt like total closure; we had our final run and it was a thing that we made a conscious decision to push. The other guys in the band felt like it ended too soon, which could be the case, I don’t know.”
So, the door’s open, it would seem.
Mike Patton once told me that Faith No More would never get together again, unless it was for money. Now, they’ve got a new album in the works.
