It wasn’t even a year ago that the fellas in Shadows Fall revealed they’d be going on hiatus.
When they did make that announcement, I understood it to be a done deal. I figured Shadows Fall was all but finished.
But now, Brian Fair — the band’s frontman and one of the very first musicians to consent to our annoying request that he write a regular column for us — is saying things that aren’t as definitive.
In fact, when asked by fans on Twitter about the future for Shadows Fall, Brian said nothing’s set in stone.
While he’s “not sure” what’s going on, he said if the band regroups, it won’t be until next year or later.
“All of us have a lot going on right now,” he writes.
It’s true. Brian’s busy being a dad and working with Downpour, Overcast, and Death Ray Vision. Matt Bachand is now in Act of Defiance, the new band featuring two dudes who bailed on Megadeth.
Meanwhile, Jason Bittner’s been recruited by Flotsam and Jetsam, and of course, Jonathan Donais is now an active member of Anthrax.
But Fair makes it clear: You can never say never.
“We haven’t ruled out new music,” Brian writes on Twitter. “Still love writing and playing together. Was just time to take a break from touring.”
