Paul Mazurkiewicz, the drummer for the one and only Cannibal Corpse, tells Billboard the band’s got big a ton of surprised lined up for their coming 25th anniversary next year.
“A couple of things that are in the works, but I’m probably not a liberty to say anything at this point,” Paul offers…classic rock dude response.
“We’ve got a few things planned. Hopefully fans will enjoy what we’ve got lined up. We’ve definitely got to have something going; 25 years is a huge milestone for the band, so something will happen,” Paul adds.
“It’s really crazy to fully comprehend and grasp that this has been happening at all, let alone for almost 25 years,” he continues. “We never thought this far into the future, you know? And now we look back and there’s a lot to look back on. We’re a household name, in a way. That’s crazy to me.”
Then, something interesting happened. Gary Graff, the token metal writer for Billboard, basically baited Paul into saying he’d be down to do a “Big Four” of death metal tour.
“I think that would be pretty cool. I don’t know if it would ever happen. On paper, of course, it would be great for us, Morbid Angel, Deicide and Suffocation, something like that. That would be a brutal, brutal tour, a big celebration of bands that have been there since kind of the beginning — and are still going. It would be cool to do something like that.”
I like Paul’s list, but who would you want on a “Big Four of Death Metal” tour? Who are death metal’s “Big Four?” Let’s debate that fucking question over on Facebook…and GO!
