You know, I am super thrilled that I’ve been able to sweet talk so many awesome musicians into writing columns for the site.
Especially Mark Hunter from Chimaira. The dude has a different outlook on the world than most of us. But more than that, I’m psyched that 15 minutes of bullshit, ego-driven tension from the past could be buried and that Mark and I could agree on the fact that we both actually rule.
Anyways, I bring this up because years ago, that aforementioned tension was caused by my criticism of something that every band does today: Plug the hell out of the fact that they’re recording.
Years ago, Chimaira tried to take advantage of social networking before most other bands, and continually kept their fans in the know on their new record.
Now, every band does this when they take a shit.
“1/28/2013: Ate a burrito. Extra corn. Feeling a good one coming on.”
“1/29/2013: Hey, corn. So nice to see you again.”
Yes, next week, Chimaira will start tracking their next full-length album.
We’ll learn more as time goes by, I am sure. And I am actually looking forward to the updates.
