Strange, right? I mean, the album was released more than two fucking years ago, yet, Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy reappeared on the Billboard Top 200 this week, coming in at #198 with 3,200 units scanned.
This may be because the album that took 15 years and millions of dollars in studio time to make hit the bargain bin at Best Buy, which released the disc as an exclusive. You can now buy a copy of the last Guns N’ Roses disc for $1.99.
Sales of the disc jumped three-fold, according to Nielsen SoundScan; the week before, only 1,200 copies were purchased. Even that’s hard to fucking believe. I figured anyone who would have cared about that album — which isn’t even half bad — would have bought the thing when it first came out.
By the way, let me remind you that Axl Rose once said in an interview that the Chinese Democracy sessions yielded enough material for two more albums. But will another 15 years go by before we get a new album from Guns? Probably. Most of us might be dead by the time Axl gets his shit together for CD’s follow-up.
