It was 30 years ago today that Cliff Burton played his very first show with Metallica.
The gig took place at the Stone in San Francisco, with opening acts Laaz Rockit and Exodus (featuring guitarist Kirk Hammett), and was Metallica’s first gig after relocating to the Bay Area.
I’m not sure what else there is to say about this, really.
Obviously, Cliff not being with us still totally blows.
Any of you ever wonder what would have been if Cliff hadn’t passed? Would Metallica have been as big? Would they have remained more underground?
Would their subsequent albums have sucked less?
