Some things are better left dead. But I guess I’m one of the only people who believes that, because countless bands who no one gives a damn about are getting back together for their own selfish indulgences. Take Codeseven, for instance. I didn’t pay much attention to the recent rumors they may be getting back together because, well, I don’t care. But someone must, because this news is making the rounds on the webernets today and every site seems to give a shit.
Quick: Name a Codeseven song! See, you couldn’t, could you? I personally never got into them. I tried but couldn’t. The singer Jeff Jenkins appeared on Haste’s last record. That was a solid track. I’m not sure I’ve even ever met a Codeseven fan. Anyways, the band broke up in 2005, and now they’re coming back, playing some live gigs.
“We are excited to announce that after five years, Codeseven is going to dust off the cob webs and start playing some shows again.” says guitarist Eric Weyer. “The Reason? We miss playing these songs. No one offered up a briefcase full of money to get us to do this. It’s really all about enjoying the tunes and the ten years of work that went into this. The timing in our personal lives is good.”
Codeseven plays Greensboro, North Carolina, on August 20.
“Let’s have a little more fun before we hit the retirement homes and we’ll see what happens in the future,” says Weyer. Oh great! You know what that means…new Codeseven record on the way. Dude, let’s try to get Right Said Fred back together, too. I bet just as many people (if not more) would care.
