Yes sir — you read that headline correctly. Cynic — those progressive metal King Midas’ — will release a new EP called Carbon-Based Anatomy on November 11 in Europe and November 15 in North America through Season Of Mist.
That there is the artwork for it.
I took a class in college on what conditions would have to exist on various planets to propagate life. On most other planets, for life forms to exist, they would have to be silicone based — not carbon-based, like us.
Unlike last year’s Re-Traced, this new EP consists exclusively of brand new material, never before heard by anyone outside of the band.
The effort boasts six tracks, including “Amidst The Coals,” “Bija!,” “Box Up My Bones,” “Elves Beam Out,” and “Hieroglyph.”
Cynic leader Paul Masvidal describes this new EP as “both a philosophical as well as a musical journey, one that begins in the Amazon jungle on the lips of a shamanic wisewoman (as portrayed by Amy Correia) and ends in outerspace.”
