I think this world has been less awesome since Chuck Schuldiner departed it. Granted, 9/11 happened just before Chuck’s death, but things haven’t been that awesome since late 2001, now have they?
This, however, is kind of awesome. Sick Drummer Magazine and Perseverance Holdings Ltd. have announced the “Death To All Tour 2012.”
The trek will feature members of Death, and all proceeds from the tour will benefit Sweet Relief. Gene Hoglan is among those who’ll be participating, which is phat.
This five-city tour will feature a majority of Death’s players, but not Richard Christy. Bummer; I am sure he will be among the special guests when the tour comes to New York.
This, I can’t fucking miss. I refuse to miss it. Come hell, high water, or fucking Mayan prophecy, I am fucking going.
The tour will celebrate the life and music of Chuck Schuldiner, as well as raise awareness to Sweet Relief Musicians Fund — a charity that provides financial assistance to career musicians faced with illness, disability or age-related problems.
Too bad none of it will go to Chuck’s family. Just saying.
This tour will kick off in San Francisco, California, and work its way to Orlando, Florida, making stops along the way in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.
Sean Reinert (who played drums on Human) will also be on the tour, along with bassists Steve DiGiorgio and Scott Clendenin, guitarists Paul Masvidal, Shannon Hamm and Bobby Koelble.
Who’s gonna sing?
